The Army Welfare Housing Complex,Rajeev Vihar at Manimajra is facing an acute shortage of water.
Col Kulbir Singh, president of Rajeev Vihar,Army Welfare Housing Society (AWHS),said that it is the responsibility of the administration to provide water to the consumer directly but on the contrary the AWHS was made to spend a huge amount of money to build a sump and make its own pumping arrangements for water supply.
It was with great difficulty that the society management managed to get the Administration to agree to make the supply of water through individual meters in September 2009. Thereafter the complete responsibility of ensuring supply of water up to the meter falls on the administration. This was not done and the society had to continue upkeep and maintenance of these essential services by incurring huge expenditure, said Kulbir Singh.
The present water supply is also very erratic and the society has to virtually chase the Administration to supply water at the designated timings, Singh added.
