Area around Golden Temple declared ‘no-vehicle zone’

AMRITSAR: With a view to check congestion of vehicles around the Golden Temple complex,the district administration on Sunday decided to make the areas around the holy shrine a ‘no-vehicle zone’.

Deputy Commissioner K S Pannu said no vehicle would go beyond Chowk Phuwara,and the road to Golden Temple from there would be restricted to pedestrians only. Vehicles would be parked at the multi-storey parking lot that has come up in front of Town Hall. Asked about the VIP traffic movement and the vehicles belonging to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC),Pannu said no decision had been taken in that regard yet.
