Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association (HPOA) General Secretary and BJP MP Anurag Thakur rolled out an innovative plan to promote budding sports-persons in 14 games and appoint 40 coaches at the HPOAs expense, which will cost Rs 24 lakhs per annum for the next three years.
Anurag said effort will be made to identify some of the potential national level players in every game and provide them the best facilities including travel in II(AC) and III(AC) trains for playing national games. The coaches will be paid a contract fee of Rs 5,000 per month.
The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA),headed by Anurag, will also be a big promoter of HPOA and will help engage big corporate houses for the job.
The HPCA president said every cricket association has its club house as a back-up facility for the sports-persons. Since there is no five-star facility or standard hotels at Dharamshala, the HPCA took upon itself the responsibility to promote sporting events.
He reiterated his demand for handing over Shimla’s Annandale ground to HPCA for building an international level cricket stadium.
