A manhunt has been launched to arrest Majithia based on the complaint of Jatinder Singh, a resident of Pratap Avenue, Amritsar, said a Vigilance spokesperson.
The officer said that Singh lodged a complaint on an anti-corruption portal on May 18 citing that Majithia had demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to get released the additional compensation of the 20 Bigha land acquired on March 25, 2022.
A court had ordered to release a 20 per cent additional compensation for the said land to the Jatinder Singh. But when the complainant approached the accused advocate for the additional compensation, he demanded a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to get the compensation released. The accused advocate had already taken Rs 8 lakh as a bribe.
A case was registered under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act at VB police station, Amritsar Range, and. Further investigations in this case are under progress, the spokesperson added.
