‘Kuch safalta milne se unhe lagta hai…’: Amit Shah mocks Opp at Chandigarh event skipped by MP Manish Tewari and mayor
Union home minister Amit Shah also says the ‘people of this country have given even the next term to PM Modi’.

At a Chandigarh event on Sunday that Congress MP Manish Tewari and Mayor Kuldeep Kumar boycotted, Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at the Opposition and said Narendra Modi would return as prime minister for a fourth term in 2029.
“Vipaksh ko kuch safalta milne se unhe lagta hai wo chunav jeet gaye (the Opposition thinks that with a little success, it has won the Lok Sabha elections)… But the Opposition doesn’t know that the BJP alone had more seats in this election than what the Congress got in three elections,” Shah said while speaking at the inauguration of a 24×7 water supply project at Manimajra. “Not just this, but the BJP alone got as many seats as their entire alliance could get.”
“The Opposition may try and make as much noise as it wants to. Let me make it clear that in 2029, it is again PM Modi who is coming,” the BJP leader added.
“Be it giving a befitting reply to the enemies by a surgical strike or airstrike, the construction of the Ram temple or upgrading British-era railway stations, all is possible only with PM Modi,” Shah said. “This is the reason why the people of this country have yet again given PM Modi another chance to become the PM. In a way they have put a stamp on all his work. And the people of this country are all set to get PM Modi again in 2029.”
According to Shah, 74 per cent of houses in India have clean water. “Chandigarh alone has seen development works of Rs 30,000 crore in the last 10 years and over Rs 500 crore is being spent on making the world-class railway station,” he added.
“Be it getting five sewerage treatment plants, or clearing 20 acres of land from legacy waste or making the Integrated Command Control Centre..the city has seen several development works. Due to the ICCC, 40 per cent traffic violations have reduced and accidents have come down by 31 per cent,” Shah said.
“And this journey cannot be possible without you people. The Opposition doesn’t know that not just this term will run smoothly but even the next term has been given to PM Modi by the people of this country. Rather, the journey of making viksit Bharat by 2047 cannot be possible without your support,” he said. “When every person of this country resolves and moves ahead in unison, about 130 crore people step ahead with their resolve and that is how a country progresses.”
“Today, over a lakh people are going to get pure and clean water and there is no need to drink mineral water now… (Governor) Gulab Chand ji knows as he too comes from a state where clean and pure water is pricier. I am sure this will come as a relief to hundreds and thousands of women who have to struggle when there is unclean and impure water. With this project, each one of them will get pure and clean water,” he said.
Mayor Kuldeep Kumar on his absence
Chandigarh Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, who along with Manish Tewari was conspicuous by his absence at the event, told The Indian Express, “Our names were not even there on the invitation card. Moreover, we chose to boycott the event because who needs 24/7 supply of water by paying an additional tariff and monetary burden on people. Even the morning and evening supply is fine. We have been speaking of free 20,000 litres to every family and they are putting a monetary burden on people with 24/7 water supply.”
