The Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE),S S Mantha said that the requests made by some state governments for not granting permission for establishment of new technical institutions is under consideration.
Over the past few months,a number of state governments have been writing to All India Council for Technical Education to restrict the establishments of new colleges,citing vacancy of seats in existing institutions.
Mantha was in the city,on Friday,to address the participants of online approval processes for academic year 2012-13.
He also informed that AICTE is going to initiate a pilot project in three states including Himachal,Jammu & Kashmir and Assam for skill-based diploma and certificate courses.
Usha R Sharma,Director Technical Education,Punjab and S K Jena,Regional Officer of All India Council for Technical Education highlighted government policies and procedures. Anshu Kataria,Chairman of Aryans Group of Colleges suggested that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) should be allowed in educational institutions.
J S Dhaliwal,R K Gupta,Zora Singh,and Sanjeev Sharma were among the 500 participants who attended the workshop on Friday.
