Admn to complete monuments at Capitol Complex

The Martys Memorial was planned for martyrs in the freedom struggle. It has a square enclosure with elongated side. As per the drawings of Corbusier it was supposed to have sculptures and debris section. The Geometric Hill was to have a mural on the incline which would have shown a 24-hour cycle of the sun. This is also incomplete. A senior official of the Administration said that proposals are on the anvil for completion of the monuments.

The Administration is planning to apply for UNESCO Heritage status for buildings that were designed by Le Corbusier along with five other countries as part of a transnational dossier. Several steps are being taken for that. The Capitol Complex is the most renowned building by Corbusier.

The Administration has also held meetings to discuss the proposal for construction of the Museum of Knowledge,which is to be the fourth building in the Capitol Complex. While the design of the building was prepared by Corbusier,the Administration is in the process of deciding the utility of the building. Several proposals have been mooted.

It is further proposed that a research cell be opened at the Le Corbusier Centre in Sector 19. Since the dossier for UNESCO status has to be prepared,the work for the same will be undertaken. Apart from buildings of Corbusier,the Centre and Leisure Valley are also proposed to be recommended for heritage status.
