Teachers recruitment : Asks wronged candidates to come forward by February 28
Two days after dismissing 10 teachers, the Chandigarh Administration put up a corrected merit list of selected candidates under the junior basic training (JBT) category on the Education departments website on Monday.
The 10 junior basic training (JBT) teachers were dismissed on Saturday,as they were selected under the OBC category without any supporting certificates.
The fresh list contains names of five candidates, whose cases were highlighted by Newsline on February 12. It was reported that despite their experience, these candidates were not awarded any marks, due to which they failed to make it to the final list.
Three candidates bearing roll numbers 220122098,220122356 and 220122696 have now been selected as JBT teachers. The rank of two candidates roll numbers 220122116 and 220122277 has been elevated in the corrected merit list. Earlier, these candidates were awarded zero for experience.
As part of its face-saving exercise, the Administration has asked candidates, who feel they were not duly considered in the selection procedure,to approach them within a week by February 28.
But a few candidates are likely to move court over the recruitment procedure adopted by the Administration.
One of them,Deepa Sharma, claims she has teaching experience of three years and three months, but she was given only one mark for experience. According to the rules,Sharma should have got six marks.
Sharma had submitted a representation along with attested copies of her experience certificates to Director Public Instructions (Schools) Sunil Bhatia on February 16. But she has not heard from the DPI (S) office so far.
The Administration, meanwhile, continues to maintain that no malpractices were involved in the recruitment process, and discrepancies,if any, were because of human errors.
So far,the Administration has barred two candidates, who were selected despite getting zero in the interview, from joining, and dismissed 10 others.
UT to recover salaries of 10 dismissed teachers from DOEACC
The salaries that the 10 dismissed candidates have drawn so far will be recovered from the Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Courses (DOEACC),which has been accused by the Administration for committing human errors, which led to erroneous selections.
The amount totaling thousands of rupees will be deducted from the payment to be given to DOEACC for compiling the results.
The money, which has already gone into the accounts of the dismissed teachers, will be deducted from the payment to be given to DOEACC. They committed the error; they should pay for it, Education secretary Ram Niwas said.
