Kuldeep Kumar alias Deep Kamboj (Photo: twitter/@Deepkamboji) The Rajasthan Police have booked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader from Punjab, Kuldeep Kumar, alias Deep Kamboj, and three of his relatives – Vijay Kamboj, Aman Kamboj and Smile Kamboj – on charges including rape following a complaint by a woman from Sri Ganganagar district.
Kamboj contested the 2022 Punjab Vidhan Sabha polls from Abohar constituency but lost to Congress’s Sandeep Jakhar.
The woman has also filed a complaint with Fazilka police in Punjab. Kamboj too has filed a counter-complaint with Fazilka SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu alleging that the woman was a honeytrap mastermind who has extorted money from many people. Fazilka police said they are investigating the complaints filed by both sides.
In her FIR, the woman said she came in contact with Kamboj in December last year after a “wrong FIR” was allegedly lodged against her family. She said Kamboj, however, took her to a hotel, raped her and even threatened her. The complainant also alleged that Kamboj and his relatives forced her to post objectionable pictures on social media.
In her complaint, the woman stated that on May 16 she got to know that she was pregnant and she met Kamboj and his relatives but they gave her a cold drink laced with medicines, which triggered a miscarriage.
On Friday evening, Kaboj took to social media and posted, “The woman is a honeytrap mastermind and truth will come out soon. Lives of many brothers had been ruined by this woman but now I will not let anyone fall victim to it.”
The police have booked four persons under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 313 (causing miscarriage without the consent of woman) and 354 (outraging modesty of a woman). No arrests have been made yet.
