A New Brew

It’s meant to be a fun mix of conversations,coffee and congeniality and the second season of The Lounge Journals that rolled out on Thursday afternoon at The Lounge café in Sector 35 lived up to that spirit. The Lounge Journals,for the uninitiated,is a series of tete-a-tete sessions with “celebrity experts” on hobbies and varied topics that interest the youth in Chandigarh.

Hosted by Café Coffee Day,the Thursday edition saw popular anchor Jassi and the talented DJ Sameer in attendance. Having pursued their passion and strengthened their skill sets to achieve success in offbeat careers that they love,Jassi and Sameer shared their experiences so far with a group of enthusiastic youngsters at the cafe. Previously,The Lounge Journals had hosted a singing session with a popular Punjabi singer. This session began with Jassi speaking about how she started her career as an anchor six years ago. Naturally witty with a good sense of humour,she mentioned how she built on her communication skills to become one of the most prominent anchors on Punjabi television today. She also explained the nuances of presenting to aspiring anchors in the audience; the importance of having the right attitude,hard work and doing thorough research to know your subject well.

DJ Sameer,internationally known for his solo tech-house track Closer by an Inch,enthralled the audience with interesting anecdotes about his journey in the music and entertainment industry. He even went on to demonstrate how he mixes music. A few members of the audience got lucky,winning themselves autographed coffee mugs during a fun pop quiz. “The setting was perfect for this interactive session and I loved answering the questions,” remarked Jassi.
