A five-day teacher training programme for the city school teachers,organised by the Social Welfare department,held its first inaugural session Monday at Senior Citizens Home,Sector 43.
Chaired by the department director,Rajesh Jogpal,the programme lay stress on the issues such as child rights,gender,communication skills and social sensitisation for school teachers. Around 40 teachers from different government senior secondary schools participated in the training.
The department arranged many resource persons from Panjab University and department of Psychiatry of Government Medical College Sector 32 and Chandigarh AIDS control society to speak on various topics.
The topics that will be discussed in detail at the programme would include the concepts of life skills,remedies of the caste,religion,class and gender,the functional impact of emotional intelligence among teachers and convergence of step holders,wherein the teachers will be informed about the roles and functioning of women and child helplines and how they can associate with the helpline.
