4,342 teachers get promotion as Punjab sets tone for polls

Punjab Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan on Monday approved a record number of 4,342 promotions after they were duly cleared by the different departmental promotion committees constituted for the purpose.

With assembly elections around the corner,Punjab Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan on Monday approved a record number of 4,342 promotions after they were duly cleared by the different departmental promotion committees constituted for the purpose Sekhwan said here,that to check stagnation in teaching staff,3,822 personnel from the master cadre including Science,Math and Social Studies teachers have been promoted as lecturers after their cases were found fit for promotion by the DPC. Similarly,208 lecturers and 312 from the master Cadre have been promoted as principals and head masters,respectively. He said that another DPC meeting was being called in day or two to clear the cases for 463 promotions to principals from head masters. The minister said that the newly promoted lecturers,head masters and principals would be allotted their new places of postings in the coming days.

Punjab transfers 6 officers

Chandiagrh: With the model code of conduct for the assembly polls like to be in place soon,the Punjab Government on Monday issued postings and transfer orders of 5 IAS officers and 1 PCS official. As per orders issued by the personnel department,Kalpana Mittal Baruah,has been transferred as resident commissioner,New Delhi and will coordinate schemes for rural development,R. Venkat Ratnam,has been posted at secretary,welfare of S C s and B C s and will also hold charge as additional secretary,elections,Punjab. Mandeep Singh,director state transport and in addition will serve as commissioner,Gurdwara Elections,Punjab. Raminder Singh will hold the charges of secretary,local government,Ferozepur division commissioner,Faridkot division commissioner,secretary,Parliamentary affairs and will also function as chairman,Punjab Pollution Control Board. Kahan Singh Pannu will serve as special principal secretary to the chief minister and in addition will function as joint development commissioner,addition Commissioner,NREGA and would also look after the work of chief administrator,Greater Ludhiana Development Authority. The services of Shivdular Singh Dhillon,PCS have been placed at the disposal of the Department of Finance for appointment as Additional Managing Director,Punjab Infrastructure Development Board.
