Were riding a bike without helmets when a vehicle hit them from behind.
Three youths died in a road accident here on Wednesday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Sandeep,19,Dheeraj,21,and Anuj,18. Police said the trio were riding a bike on the Chandigarh-Kalka road and were hit by a vehicle from behind. The accident happened around 1.30 pm near the Command Hospital.
According to the police,the three youths did not wear any helmet when they were hit by a vehicle. They were rushed to the Sector 6 hospital where Sandeep and Dheeraj were declared dead on arrival while Anuj was referred to PGI where he breathed his last.
The police said Sandeep and Dheeraj were students while Anuj worked as a labourer. The three lived in a neighbourhood at Khadak Mangolian,old Panchkula.
The vehicle which hit the trio could not be identified as there were no eyewitnesses. When the vehicle sped away after hitting the three youths,some people saw them lying in a pool of blood and called the police control room. Following this,a police party from the Sector 7 police post rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to the Sector 6 hospital.
The police said that the post-mortem of Sandeep and Dheeraj was conducted at the Sector 6 hospital and their bodies were taken by their relatives for performing the last rites. Police officers said that the post-mortem of Anuj had not been done as yet.
Though they are yet to register a case,the police have initiated inquest proceedings.
