26-yr-old man kills two step-daughters,held

While his wife was away to celebrate Holi,a man on Sunday killed his two step-daughters and injured another in in Sarhali Jandoke village in the neighbouring Tarn Taran district.

While his wife was away to celebrate Holi,a man on Sunday killed his two step-daughters and injured another in in Sarhali Jandoke village in the neighbouring Tarn Taran district. The accused Jasbir Singh,26,was suffering from polio and the daughters were his wife’s from an earlier marriage.

Singh first poisened the girls and then used knives and other sharp-edged weapons to kill them. His wife Gurmeet Kaur alias Naseebo had gone to pay obeisance at Dera Baba Wadhbhag Singh in Himachal Pardesh on the occasion of Holi. He fled the scene of crime,but the police managed to nab him some hours later. Tarn Taran SSP Sukhdev Singh Brar said he had deputed SP (Operation) Tejinder Singh Maur to investigate the case.

Singh was working as a labourer earning daily wages,and there were often fights in the families due to the poverty. Police sources said Jasbir was suspicious about his step-daughter’s alleged love affair and had beaten her up earlier also.
