2 held for rape

The victim’s father Jhinku,35,said,“At 1 am on Thursday,my wife Amravati woke up and found our daughter missing. She then woke me up and we started looking for her. An hour later we made a PCR call and the police arrived.”

An investigation was undertaken and police found the girl near the railway tracks at around 2 am. “We heard her crying and rushed near the railway track and found her there. She was then rushed to GMCH-32. On the way she narrated the entire incident and identified the accused,” a police officer investigating the case said.

The accused were apprehended from Industrial Area (Phase 1) and a case of rape and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention registered against them. They will be produced in a local Court tomorrow,the officer further said. The victim is admitted at GMCH-32,the officer added.

Speaking to Newsline,Jhinku’s neighbour Vaidyanath said,“The accused were all working with Jhinku in the rice mill and were very good friends. I had often seen them come over for dinner at his house. Who was to know what their intentions were and that they would end up doing this terrible act?”
