2 drowned,crops hit

Two persons were drowned,while a breach in Dhussin bundh innundated 3,500 acres and an illegal bundh at Harike wetland flooded 24 villages and damaged crops in 10,000 acres.

Two persons were drowned,while a breach in Dhussin bundh innundated 3,500 acres and an illegal bundh at Harike wetland flooded 24 villages and damaged crops in 10,000 acres.

Yashpal Sharma,a 22-year-old youth,drowned in a rain water drain in Baupur village under Hoshiarpur district on Monday morning,while 15-year-old Gurvinder Singh Gora of Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district was washed away when he along with cattle entered Dhussi bundh.

Sharma drowned while crossing a rain water drain at 7 am on Monday and his body has not been recovered,while Gurvinder Singh’s body was found late evening.

Meanwhile,a breach in Dhussi bundh near Bajan village innundated 3,500 acres. Villagers said the breach took place early morning and alleged they did not get help for many hours.
