2 children drown in gurdwara pond

Two children drowned in the holy pond at Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib inside the Golden Temple complex on Sunday. While the body of Sonu (12) was fished out by life guards,that of Sanju (11) was untraceable till the filing of this report.

Divers from Harike lake were also requisitioned but the rescue operation was hampered due to the big crowd of pilgrims and the chaos prevailing all around after relatives of the children raised a hue and cry on seeing the two drowning.

Sonu was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
