A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and gangraped by three students of Polytechnic College,Sector 26,on Saturday night.
The police have arrested the accused and identified them as Kulwinder alias Prashant,a resident of Sector 20,Monty,a resident of Zirakpur,and Mohit,a resident of Sector 41.
The victim,a Class IX dropout,had allegedly gone to Sector 41 market along with a neighbour. There,she received a call from Prashant,whom she had come in contact with about 20 days back, said a police officer.
According to the police,Prashant told her that he was near Sector 41,so she could meet him. The victim agreed and told her neighbour that she had to meet a friend who would drop her home. When she met him,Prashant took her to the lake in Sector 42. Later,he took her to the Sukhna Lake on his motorcycle. At the lake,the victim met two of Prashants friends,Mohit and Monty,who were already waiting for them.
From the lake,the three accused took the victim to Saketri on the pretext of visiting a temple. They were on two different motorcycles. In the jungle area on the road leading to the temple,the victim was allegedly raped. When they were coming back,the girl reportedly started to cry. Following this,the three accused pushed her off the bike near the lake and fled.
A passer-by spotted the victim and called the Police Control Room. The Police Station Sector 26 officials took the victim to the government hospital where she was medically examined and the rape was confirmed. Later,the case was transferred to Sector 39 police station as the victim was picked from Sector 41 which falls under the jurisdiction of Sector 39 police station.
The victims statements have been recorded and a case under sections 363 (kidnapping),366A (procreation of a minor girl),376-D (sexual assault by a gang) of the IPC has been registered.
