This Diwali, over 96 people were taken to hospitals across the city with eye injuries,of which 50 risk facing partial vision loss.

The AEC has attended to 63 severe eye injury cases in the last three days. About 22 cases were reported on November 2,while 25 injury cases were reported on Diwali night and 16 on Tuesday.

According to doctors, more cases are expected in the next couple of days.

“All eye injury cases reported due to crackers were critical. There were cases of eye perforations, blunt trauma, burn of eye lids and lid lacerations,” said Dr Reema Bansal,an ophthalmologist at PGI.

“In majority of the cases, the patient’s vision capacity has deteriorated and there are chances of them turning partially blind,”Dr Reema added.
