Registation number 0001 of CH01-AV series which was sold at Rs 7.01 lakh in the auction held on October 19 and was surrendered later,went under the hammer on Saturday for Rs 5.30 lakh.
The same number was allotted to Taranjeet Singh,a resident of Sector 19 in the last auction. However,within three days he surrendered the number.
CH01-AV 0001 on Saturday was allotted to Roopinder Singh,a businessman from Sector 16-A. He got the number for his Mercedes-Benz C-Class C250 CDI. There were five bidders who participated in the bidding for the much sought after number but Singh managed to get it by spending 5.3 lakh. The second number,9000,which fetched maximum price was of same series which had a reserved prize of Rs 10,000 and had five bidders. It was allotted to Jaspreet Singh Sindhu of Sector 33-D,Chandigarh,who got it for Rs 45,000.
A total of 63 fancy numbers from the last five series that includes CH01-AR,CH01-AS,CH01-AT,CH01-AU and CH01-AV series were auctioned by the Registration and Licencing Authority (RLA) on Saturday.
However,most of the numbers were from CH01-AV series. Total amount collected in the auction that included numbers from the last five series was Rs 12.09 lakh.
Out of 123 numbers of CH01-AV series which were to be auctioned,51 numbers were sold out on Saturday. In CH01-AS series out of 14 numbers to be auctioned two numbers got the buyers. In CH01-AT series out of 23 numbers to be auctioned 6 numbers were allotted to the bidders. And in CH01-AU series total four numbers out of 17 which were to be auctioned were allotted.
A total of 183 fancy registration numbers were to be auctioned by the RLA which at the end managed to sell 123 numbers. These were the numbers which could not be sold off in the last auctions and were lying with the RLA. RLA had earlier earned Rs 47.05 lakh by auctioning 83 registration numbers of the CH01-AV series on October 19 and Rs 12.5 lakh on October 20.
We started the open auction for the CH01-AV series and it has worked well and has got a good response. We have earned more than what we have earned in the auction of the previous series, said RLA in-charge Kashish Mittal.
