The accused, Jay Mulchand Patel, was arrested by the Manjalpur police after it traced the car that had run into the Uma Chauhan, a doctor, on July 23.
Three days after a woman was suffered brain hemorrhage after being injured in a hit-and-run accident at Manjalpur in Vadodara, the driver of the sedan involved in the collision was arrested on Wednesday.
The accused, Jay Mulchand Patel, was arrested by the Manjalpur police after it traced the car that had run into the Uma Chauhan, a doctor, on July 23.
The incident – caught on CCTV cameras – took place when Chauhan was returning home from her clinic on her two-wheeler.
The police said that in the CCTV footage, an overspeeding car is seen hitting Chauhan’s two-wheeler from the side. Chauhan was thrown off balance and the car dragged her along with her two-wheeler for about 15 feet. Chauhan is undergoing treatment for brain hemorrhage in a private hospital.
Patel has been booked for endangering lives due to rash and negligent driving. His car has also been confiscated.
