Three suffocate to death cleaning sanitary sump in Bengaluru apartment

Three persons who ventured to clean a sanitary sump in an apartment complex at Singasandra in South-East Bengaluru suffocated to death here on Monday evening. The three identified as Mahesh, 22, from Nepal, Jagadeesh, 23, from Karnataka and Ranjan, 22, from Orissa had ventured to clean a sump located at the Aratt Royal Citadel apartment complex in Singasandra around 6 pm on Monday. The apartment association had engaged four youths to clean the tank.

While three of the youths who entered the sump fell unconscious and died the fourth person stood outside and later discovered that his fellow workers were not responding to his calls. Police said a case of death due to negligence would be registered against the concerned individuals at the apartment complex.
