Survey should be carried out to identify people who live in Karnataka but do not know Kannada: Music director Hamsalekha at Mysuru Dasara festival
Nearly 4,200 police personnel including a DIG and 11 SPs have been deployed to oversee security arrangements at the festival.

Music director Hamsalekha inaugurated the 414th Mysuru Dasara festival atop Chamundi hills Sunday. He inaugurated the ceremony during the auspicious Vrischika Lagna (10:15 am to 10:36 am). The Dasara festival is also popularly referred to as ‘Naada Habba’ (state festival).
On the occasion, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, District In-charge Minister H C Mahadevappa, and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, among others, joined Hamsalekha in offering floral tributes to the idol of goddess Chamundeshwari.
In his inaugural address, Hamsalekha said, “There should be a survey to identify people who are living in Karnataka but do not know the Kannada language. They should be taught Kannada. A team of corporate Kannadigas suggested that we teach Kannada to those who do not know the language.”
He also said that a bridge must be built between farmers and the corporate world and both should know about the hardships and challenges faced by the other.
Nearly 4,200 police personnel including a DIG and 11 SPs have been deployed to oversee security arrangements at the festival. Specialised units including the Armed Forces, Bomb Disposal Squad, and Special Garuda Force have also been stationed to ensure security for the devotees. The 10-day festival is slated to end on October 24.
