Bengaluru police inspector set to receive CM’s medal flees after Lokayukta raid
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said it has come to their notice that the police inspector was in the real estate business.

A Benglauru police inspector who was to receive the Chief Minister’s medal for exemplary service went absconding after the Lokayukta police raided his properties Tuesday night over a property issue.
According to the Bengaluru police, the accused officer is A V Kumar, a police inspector posted at the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station. Kumar was scheduled to receive the chief minister’s gold medal Wednesday.
Speaking about the case, a police officer said, “A person named Somashekar Aradhya had filed a complaint in Annapoorneshwari Nagar in 2024 against civil contractor Channegowda and his wife Anusha over a property dispute. The couple had taken Rs 60 lakh from Aradhya for a property.”
However, when Aradhya demanded his money back, the couple refused to return the amount. As Anusha worked with the government, Kumar advised them to negotiate and settle the matter. Later, Kumar asked the couple to transfer the property to Aradhya, but the couple refused. Channegowda and Anusha had approached Lokayukta after Kumar allegedly threatened them by sending staff to their house.
On Tuesday night, Kumar held a meeting over the property issue at a hotel in Nagarbhavi where his relatives appeared on his behalf. At the same time, Annapoorneshwari Nagar head constable Umesh and police constable Ananth also arrived on the spot.
A Lokayukta police officer said that while they conducted the raid, and took custody of five people, Kumar absconded after getting information about the search.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said it had come to his notice that Kumar was into real estate. “I have collected information about the case. It has come to the notice that Kumar was conducting real estate meetings at the police station. The case will be investigated accordingly,” he added.
