Mining case: Will arrest Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy if required, says Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Kumaraswamy, according to the CM, was afraid that the Governor would grant sanction for prosecution in connection with a mining case.

Days after the Special Investigation Team of the Karnataka Lokayukta submitted another application to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot seeking sanction for prosecution against Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy in an alleged fraudulent allocation of a mining lease, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said that the Union Minister will be arrested if required.
Responding to media queries at Koppal, Siddaramaiah said, “If there are circumstances that require his arrest, we will arrest him. Right now, there is no situation like that.”
Kumaraswamy, according to the CM, was afraid that the Governor would grant sanction for prosecution in connection with a mining case. “We (Karnataka government) have not sought action. The Lokayukta has sought action after investigating and collecting evidence (in the mining case),” he said.
Siddaramaiah asked whether the delay in granting sanction did not amount to discrimination. “Sanction was granted within hours of a private complaint in my case – where neither the police nor the Lokayukta sought sanction after an investigation. In the case of Kumaraswamy, the Lokayukta has sought sanction for prosecution after investigation,” he said.
Taking a dig at Kumaraswamy for being a “hit and run case”, he asked whether the Union Minister had taken any of his allegations to a logical conclusion.
