Kannada film director Guru Prasad found dead in suspected suicide in Bengaluru

Renowned Kannada film director Guru Prasad was found dead in his flat in Bengaluru on Sunday morning. He was 52. The police suspect that the director died by suicide two or three days ago.

He was living in an apartment at Madanayakanahalli in northern Bengaluru for the last eight months. The death came to light after other residents sensed a foul smell from his flat. According to sources, Guru Prasad had suffered financial losses and borrowed money from people. His recent movie Ranganayaka turned out to be a flop, pushing him to depression, said sources.

After divorcing his first wife, Guru Prasad recently married another woman. His movies Mata (2006) and Eddelu Manjunatha (2009) were box office hits and received positive reviews. He was also a judge in some Kannada reality shows in the past.
