(Source: ANI)Bengaluru is set to experience markedly below-normal temperatures over the next few days, along the lines of the weather seen in the city at the start of the week, following cold-wave conditions in North India.
The minimum temperature on Wednesday in Bengaluru is set to be around 12.6 degrees Celsius, which is nearly four degrees Celsius below the normal minimum temperature for December in the city.
On December 13 (Sunday), the old and new Bengaluru airport regions experienced temperatures of around 12 degrees Celsius, which is markedly below normal for the regions, while the main city recorded temperatures that were 2.2 degrees Celsius below the normal of 16.4 degrees Celsius for December.
While cold-wave conditions prevail in parts of North Karnataka, the minimum temperatures were in the range of 10.0-12.8 degrees Celsius over Belagavi, Bidar, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, Haveri, Agumbe, Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL), HAL Airport, Davangere, Hassan, Chintamani, and Shivamogga at the start of the week, according to an India Meteorological Department report. The temperatures were 13.0-15.1 degrees Celsius over Koppal, Kalaburgi, Bengaluru city, Chitradurga, Mandya, and Mysuru.
On Monday, the minimum temperatures were back to being closer to normal, with Bengaluru city recording 16.4 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature and KIAL and HAL airports logging 15.4 degrees Celsius and 15.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

“Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 27 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively,” stated the IMD forecast on Tuesday for the next 48 hours. The minimum temperature could be as low as 12.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to the forecast for the city.
The mean minimum temperature in December in Bengaluru over the last 15 years has been 16.4 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature in December in the last 15 years was 12.8 degrees Celsius, recorded on December 24, 2011. The lowest minimum ever recorded in the city in December was 8.9 degrees Celsius, on December 29, 1883.
The lowest minimum temperature ever recorded in Bengaluru is 7.8 degrees Celsius, recorded on January 13, 1884, as per the IMD’s historical records.
