Bengaluru: Uber office vandalised by protesting cab drivers

The drivers have accused Uber of not keeping a promise to pay an incentives of Rs 350 for every trip to drivers.

An office of the taxi aggregator service Uber Taxi was vandalized by drivers attached to the firm in Bengaluru on Tuesday for alleged non payment of incentives. Police said that more than 100 drivers attacked the office and vandalized it after a meeting with management fell through on Tuesday.

“This is an issue that concerns the labour department. We have received a complaint from Uber on their office being vandalized. We are looking at CCTV camera footage. Action will be taken against persons who were involved,” a police officer said.

Police said that after a meeting of some drivers with the Uber management to resolve an incentive issue failed, the drivers were forced out of the office and the gates were locked.

Subsequently, more than 100 drivers tried to force themselves inside the office and pelted stones damaging the window panes. The drivers have accused Uber of not keeping a promise to pay an incentives of Rs 350 for every trip to drivers.
