Bengaluru businessman files police complaint after fraudsters upload daughter’s morphed photo, link her with escort service
The police said the businessman also paid a ransom amount of Rs 12,000, thinking that the harassment would stop.

A 45-year-old businessman in Bengaluru filed a complaint with the police alleging that an unknown person has uploaded a morphed photo of his daughter on a website and has linked her with an escort service. The fraudster also extorted Rs 12,000 from him.
The businessman has filed a complaint with Halasuru police after he received a threat call from an unknown number. A police officer said, “On July 29, the businessman received a phone call from an unknown number and the person on the other side demanded money saying that he had hacked into his daughter’s Facebook account and has access to all the photos uploaded on social media.”
The businessman initially thought it could be a prank call and ignored it. After sometime, he received another phone call where the caller threatened to upload his and his daughter’s photo on Locanto, an advertisement portal, and link the post to an escort service to defame them.
He then asked the businessman to pay Rs 12,000. The businessman paid the ransom assuming it would stop but after a while, the fraudsters sent a link of the website to him where a morphed picture of his daughter was posted linking her to an escort service. Later, the businessman filed a police complaint.
A police officer said that most of the photos published on the portal are fake and people fall for such fake escort services.
