Two people died within a span of 24 hours after getting hit by BMTC (Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses in two separate incidents in Bengaluru recently.
In one incident, real estate agent Kumar, 60, died after a BMTC bus hit his scooter from behind near Nagarbhavi Main Road around 8.30 am Sunday. After being hit, the elderly person fell from his two-wheeler and came under the wheels of the bus. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case. They said the accident happened as the bus was being driven recklessly.
In another incident, a woman pedestrian died after she was hit by a BMTC bus near Bannerghatta Main Road Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Veena K H, 20. Veena was crossing the BDA 80 Feet Road near Bannerghatta Main Road when a bus knocked her down. She died on the spot.
Veena is a native of Shivamogga who moved to the city recently and was working at a garment factory. The Hulimavu traffic police have registered a case and seized the bus.
The police have also arrested the bus drivers in both cases.
