The Ahmedabad Civil Hospital administration on Saturday honoured its Class-4 and Class-3 employees for their role in the rescue and relief operations after the June 12 plane crash.
In a statement, Medical Superintendent Dr Rakesh Joshi said, “Today, one month has passed since the Air India plane crash. In such a sudden and unprecedented incident, every staff of the Civil Hospital worked day and night, considering it their moral duty and regardless of the hours of their duty. Due to whose courage, in all the situations that arose after the incident, from treating the injured people and taking DNA samples of those who had lost their relatives to handing over the dead bodies to them, the work could be done well.”
He said, “We cannot take the pain of those who were injured or those who lost their relatives in this tragic incident, but in all the subsequent proceedings, every staff of ours did their best to ensure that the relatives of the deceased did not face any inconvenience.”
The staff members included those working in the post-mortem department involved in a range of responsibilities – from keeping the bodies in the cold box to handing them over to the relatives to consoling them.
