The Surat Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested a woman from Rander town and seized 500 grams of banned Mephedrone drug worth Rs 50 lakh Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, the SOG officials raided a house in Rander leading to the recovery of the drugs hidden inside a vessel in the kitchen.

The resident, identified as Heena Gurjar (27), was arrested under different sections of NDPS act.

Police said Heena’s husband Ismail Gurjar was arrested by Surat SOG around nine months ago after his name cropped up during the investigation of another drug case in a factory on the outskirts of Vadodara.

Ismail is currently under judicial custody in the Surat district central jail.
