The Surat District Bar Association (SDBA) called off its strike on Saturday,a day after the High Court Surat in-charge judge,R R Tripathi, assured the agitating lawyers of a free and fair inquiry against District Judge R P Dholaria. An SDBA delegation had met Tripathi at the High Court in Ahmedabad on Friday over the issue. After hearing their demands,Tripathi assured them of an inquiry against Dholaria within 20 days.

After their return to Surat, the delegation members, led by SDBA president Madansinh Atodaria, discussed the matter with the rest of Association members on Saturday afternoon and decided to end their strike on its fourth day.

Atodaria said: “We have full faith in the inquiry to be conducted in the issue. We (office bearers) have convinced the bar members to call of the strike and resume work. We will wait for another 15 to 20 days till the decision comes.”
