The resolution empowers the government to prematurely retire an employee at the age of 50 or 55, if it is satisfied that it is necessary to do so in public interest.
Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) Wednesday ordered the premature retirement of an executive engineer with immediate effect in “public interest”.
The executive engineer, identified as Ashvin Parmar, was posted at Radhanpur under Kutch Branch Canal section.
The order was passed by the personnel department of SSNNL under the provisions of Gujarat Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2002 and a resolution dated September 29, 2023 of General Administration Department.
The resolution empowers the government to prematurely retire an employee at the age of 50 or 55, if it is satisfied that it is necessary to do so in public interest.
The order said that Parmar will get salary and allowances for three months. It also added that the ongoing departmental inquiry against Parmar will continue even after his premature retirement under the provisions of Gujarat Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2002.
Under CM Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat government had launched a drive to “cleanse” the system of “deadwood” by ordering their premature retirement. A number of officials have been ordered to prematurely retire under the drive.
