The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will launch a toll-free helpline service on January 1 to enable Suratis register complaints related to water,like impure supply,leakage and low pressure.
After receiving several complaints in the recent past,the SMC water committee held a meeting with hydraulic department officials and decided to launch the toll-free service (180012380000).
We will set up a control room at the Hydraulic department office in central zone. We will deploy three officials for the round-the-clock service to register complaints. The complaints will be forwarded to different sections of the water committee and will be solved in a day or more. The complainants will be given a complaint number,which they can use to find out the status of their complaints, said water committee chairman P V S Sarma.
