SMC bags three India Smart Cities awards

Surat bagged the second position among smart cities, after Indore, the SMC topped the Covid-19 innovation award category, for immediate response and multiple initiatives taken during the pandemic in Surat. (Representratiional Image) The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has bagged three awards in the India Smart Cities Awards 2022, results of which were announced on Friday.
While Surat bagged the second position among smart cities, after Indore, the SMC topped the Covid-19 innovation award category, for immediate response and multiple initiatives taken during the pandemic in Surat.
Under the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) business model category, SMC got the second rank in the revenue generation category. It also bagged the second rank in the Innovative Idea award category, for coming up with self-sustaining public gardening.

Speaking to The Indian Express, SMC Commissioner Shalini Agrawal said, “In the current year, we will finish some projects under the Smart city Mission – ITMS (Integrated Traffic Management System) and outdoor display board as well as some components of the biodiversity park.”
