SBI ATM containing Rs 4.8 lakh stolen

An ATM of the the State Bank of India,containing Rs 4.86 lakh,was stolen in Sanand on Sunday night.

An ATM of the the State Bank of India,containing Rs 4.86 lakh,was stolen in Sanand on Sunday night. Police were unable to trace the thieves as the CCTV footage was lost along with the machine.

The ATM near a shopping complex in Ghodagadi Bazaar was found missing on Monday morning.

Sanand police said the thieves decamped with the machine,which weighs over 400 kg,by cutting the connecting wires. Police said that it was the first incident in which an entire ATM was stolen.

Earlier this year in February,Sanand police had reported an unsuccessful attempt of stealing cash from an ATM by cutting it open,the CCTV footage of the incident was also also lost,since the footage is stored within the machine itself. The police say that they called forensic experts to find clues to trace the miscreants.
