Rajkot minor gangrape: 2 held for prostitution

The gangrape and kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl from Rajkot has led to the busting of a prostitution racket.

The gangrape and kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl from Rajkot has led to the busting of a prostitution racket. Two persons, including a woman, were arrested from Ahmedabad on Tuesday, allegedly for forcing a minor into prostitution.

The victim,a resident of Lapasari, who worked in Rajkot in a catering company, had registered a complaint on June 19,alleging that she had been forced into prostitution by her lover and his friends during her 17-day stay in Ahmedabad, between June 1 and 15.

Earlier, three persons had been arrested on charges of kidnapping and gangrape. The girl was caught by the Ahmedabad police, allegedly for making indecent gestures in public at Kankaria Lake.

A complaint was registered with Rajkot taluka police on May 29,which stated that the girl was kidnapped by one Dilawar Piparwadia,an autorickshaw driver, and taken to Ahmedabad, where she was gangraped for 17 days by three persons. Later, she was found by an Ahmedabad resident,Mansukh Patel,at a state transport bus stand. Patel informed her whereabouts to her family in Rajkot, and she was then brought back on June 15.

The police investigation revealed that Patel is not from Ahmedabad but Rajkot. He,along with Piparwadia, had taken the girl to Ahmedabad to one Nayna Shah (55),a resident of CTM Char Rasta. Patel and Shah had forced the girl into prostitution for several days.

The Rajkot taluka police said the girl was caught when Nayna had taken her to Kankaria Lake to find customers.

The police have arrested Nayna and Patel and are trying to ascertain if other girls have also been victimised by the group.
