Union Minister Parshottam Rupala (File Photo)Protests against Union Minister Parshottam Rupala over his alleged anti-Kshatriya comments continued on Monday in central Gujarat. Demonstrators waved black flags in Bodeli ahead of the visit of BJP Gujarat chief CR Paatil’s address to booth workers.
Slogans against the BJP rent the air as members of Kshatriya continue to demand the withdrawal of Rupala’s Lok Sabha candidature from Rajkot. Personnel of the Chhota Udepur police detained several protesters from the spot, whisking them away in police vans.
In Sathod village in Vadodara district’s Dabhoi Taluka, posters barring entry of BJP leaders until Rupala’s candidature was withdrawn also came up on Monday.
At an event of the Rajasthan Kshatriya community in Khatamba, as part of the election campaign of independent candidate Ravindra Singh Bhati of Barmer Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan, Rupala’s comment and the community agitation was discussed. Bhati, interacting with mediapersons, said, “I am here to request the non-resident Rajasthanis to come to Barmer and vote in the upcoming polls… I am aware of the agitation going on in Gujarat. In election campaigns, politicians should refrain from making comments against communities that can hurt sentiments. It is unfortunate that such a comment has been made against a community.”
