Power PSUs in state get top rating by Centre

In a survey conducted for the first time by the Union power ministry on financial health and efficiency of state-owned power distribution companies,only four units got A+ grading and all of them were from Gujarat,state’s energy minister Saurabh Patel said in the Assembly on Thursday.

The minister,however,added that despite sending a written report to the Gujarat government in this regard,the Centre did not felicitate these four companies.

According to Patel,directors of these companies were informed that the results would be declared in Delhi on March 19 and best companies would be awarded.

Patel said the South Gujarat Vij Company Limited got 91.6 marks,North Gujarat Vij Company Limited got 89.93,Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited 89.59 and Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited got 80.23 marks.

Minister vows action on misuse of beacon lights

Action would be taken against those violating norms on use of sirens and beacon lights on their vehicles,state’s Transport Minister Nitin Patel told the Assembly Thursday in reply to a question by Congress MLA from Anklav Amit Chavda.

The minister told the House during question hour that some cases of violation had come to the government’s notice. In one of these cases,beacon light was removed from the vehicle concerned,Patel said.
