Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually address the ‘Karyakar Suvarna Mahotsav’ of the BAPS Swaminarayan sect during an event to be held in Ahmedabad on Saturday, a leader of the sect said on Wednesday. Apart from Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel along with the state Cabinet ministers and former ministers will also be present for the golden anniversary celebration at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The event to felicitate the service of 1 lakh BAPS volunteers, from across the globe, is also a tribute to late Pramukh Swami Maharaj on his birth anniversary, said the leader. Volunteers from 30 countries including the UK, Europe, the USA, Australia, Middle East, African and Asia Pacific countries will take part in the event. “The intention of the event is to express our gratitude. Nowadays, there is a general perception that everything is bad in the world. So, this event also aims to spread positivity among people. Over the last year, planning and preparations have been going on for the event that will have over 2,000 performers who are not professionals but volunteers. The idea is not entertainment but enlightenment,” spiritual leader Brahmavihari Swami said while addressing the mediapersons. The Narendra Modi Stadium ground will be turned into a stage where interactive immersive presentations, performances, narrations and throwback videos will feature contributions and sacrifices of volunteers over the years, said sources.
