On Thursday, the “People Reception Event” was organised by the student body in Surat where actor and Padma Shri award recipient Manoj Joshi was the chief guest.

Addressing the media on Thursday, Yagyavalkya Shukla, national general secretary of ABVP, said, “In the three days of the NEC meeting, we will carry out discussion with the academicians, students and others on five points. The five points include “examination paper leak issue and transparency in conducting exams”. The ABVP will always take up the issues related to the students and carry out protests when it is required… we will not see which government is in the states.”

He further added, “Among other talking points is the implementation of the National Education Policy across the country so that no student is left behind.” Shukla added, “Information related to textile and diamond industries, and culture of Gujarat will be provided to the students and academicians participating in the event. Various initiatives depicting the importance of the tribal areas of Gujarat will be highlighted.”

At this year’s NEC meeting, the student body has adopted a sustainable approach by using recycled material over plastic.  About 1,000 bags — prepared by using waste denims collected from institutions across Gujarat — will be given to delegates.
