The draft budget of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) presented before the Standing Committee indicates no raise in the existing tax slabs for citizens for the financial year 2024-25 during which Lok Sabha elections will be held across the country.

The Rs 5,523-crore draft budget, presented by Vadodara Municipal Commissioner Dilip Rana, has provisions for a water supply network in the coming decade as well as a ring road connecting the periphery of Vadodara city along with encouragement for e-vehicles in the form of 24 charging stations across the city.

The draft budget is also Rs 497 crore higher than the budget presented and approved for the previous financial year. The budget proposes construction of six bridges and flyovers across the city, including a flyover above the Alkapuri railway underpass that currently faces waterlogging during monsoon.
