NCSC summons GTU V-C

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) on Tuesday issued a notice to Gujarat Technological University (GTU) vice-chancellor Akshai Aggarwal,asking him to present himself before the commission in New Delhi on October 28 afternoon.

Speaking to mediapersons,commission member and former Rajya Sabha member Raju Parmar said that the V-C was issued a notice owing to his casual approach to reservation for Dalits and their admission in colleges affiliated to GTU. Parmar said that the commission had sent a questionnaire to the V-C about issues pertaining to dalits in the GTU and its affiliated colleges and it was to be discussed with him at the university premises at Tuesday’s meeting. “But the V-C’s approach was very casual and negative. Hence,I called off the meeting midway as there was no point in discussing,” said Parmar.
