Gujarat confidential: Selfie Hazard
On August 12, Rajkot's mayor announced that RMC would organise a Tiranga Yatra on August 14.

Around three weeks after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the public a bridge over another flyover at KKV Chowk on the busy Kalavad Road in Rajkot, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) has been forced to partially close the bridge to vehicular traffic.
The reason? People stop on the bridge to take selfies while blocking traffic, and also sparking concern over the possibility of accidents. The civic body has decided to put up a barrier to block the view of the city. The bridge was closed for four days, starting Wednesday.
‘No Leaves, Please’
A significant number of employees of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) applied for leave on August 14. A leave on that day would have afforded them a five-day vacation as the civic body was closed on Saturday and Sunday and August 15 and 16 were public holidays.
However, on August 12, Rajkot’s mayor announced that RMC would organise a Tiranga Yatra on August 14.
Top officers then didn’t approve leave applications of officers and employees and canceled leaves of those who had already got it.
