In WhatsApp nude video calls case, two held from Rajasthan

The complainant allegedly paid a total of Rs 3.33 lakh to the accused using online money transfer app. However, the accused allegedly continued to threaten to release the video on Youtube, forcing the complainant to approach the police.Two men were arrested on Monday from Rajasthan after a complainant from Vadodara alleged extortion of Rs 3.33 lakh, said police. The accused, according to the Vadodara Cyber Crime police, allegedly “learned the trick” of making fake sextortion calls from a ‘friend’ in their native village and also “practised” for six months before targeting gullible victims, police said.
The two accused have been identified as brothers Sajid Khan (21) and Majid Khan (18) from Kot village in Dausa Taluka of Rajasthan. “The complainant received a friend request by the name of Aditi Agarwal on Facebook on the night of November 28. The complainant accepted the friend request and began chatting, and also shared his Whatsapp number. Soon after, he received a video call purportedly from a nude woman, unknown to him. The intimate video was screen recorded and later used for blackmail…,” read a statement on Monday from the cyber crime police station.

According to police, the arrested duo had “trained to execute nude video calling” by using dummy sim cards, hacking into the mobile phones of unsuspecting people from the Truecaller app. The dummy Whatsapp login was used to launch a video call, in which the accused showed a clip of a nude woman, urging the victim to undress and record their video. Police added even if the victim refused, the accused would screen record a minor part of the victim’s face on the video call and later morph it onto other nude videos for blackmail.
