Gujarat invites MP Chief Minister for states golden jubilee celebration
Bhopal: The Gujarat government on Wednesday invited Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to attend the Golden Jubilee function of the states foundation on May 1. A delegation led by state Agriculture Minister Dilip Sanghani visited Bhopal to extend the invitation,sources said.
Welcoming the delegation,Chouhan apprised them of the initiatives taken by the Madhya Pradesh government in developing infrastructure in the state. He also briefed them about the measures taken by the state government to make agriculture a profitable venture and steps taken by his government towards women empowerment.

US Consulate files complaint against three for faking visa papers
VADODARA: The US Consulate in Mumbai has filed a complaint with the Vadodara DCB against three persons from the city for supplying fake documents to obtain visas. The DCB said Immigration official Vicar Peter Carabin from the Consulate has accused one Rajesh Kumar Trivedi of preparing bogus documents for himself and two others for obtaining visas.
Trivedi allegedly charged Rs 25,000 each from accused Samna Dilip Patel and Maya Satish Ellora each. But when the Consulate authorities checked the veracity of the documents,the fraud was discovered,said Sub-Inspector A K Parmar.
He added that no arrests have been made yet and a probe is on.
Air Chief meets Governor
Ahmedabad: Air Chief Marshal P V Naik met Governor Dr Kamala Beniwal in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. Air Marshal P S Bhangu,Air Officer Commanding in Chief (AOC-in-C) South Western Air Command (SWAC) and other IAF officers were present at the meeting. The Air Chief is in Ahmedabad to attend the two-day commanders conference at SWAC.
Abetment of suicide: Moneylender held
AHMEDABAD: Nine months after Avnish Patel,a local businessman killed his family members and then hanged himself in his apartment under debt pressure,the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) arrested a moneylender on Wednesday. Rajesh Desai alias Gokul,the owner of the Gokul Dairy Farm in Ahmedabad,was the first accused mentioned in Patels suicide note. He was allegedly harassing Patel to repay Rs 25 lakh. The DCB said Patel had suffered heavy losses in the bourses. To repay other creditors,he had borrowed money from Desai. The other accused mentioned in the suicide note have not been arrested yet.
IPL betting racket busted,7 held
AHMEDABAD: The Ahmedabad DCB arrested seven people in the early hours of Wednesday for betting on the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Anant Kansara,Vipu Patel,Bharat Patel,Rajesh Patel,Rajesh Ranjan Patel,Vikas Patel and Yogesh Patel were arrested from Prerna Vraj Apartments in the Satellite area. The DCB seized 20 mobiles,one TV,three bikes and one laptop. The police said this was the fourth such racket busted in the last one month.
