CBI visits Vanzaras farm house in Illol village
Sabarkantha: The CBI,which is investigating the alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and disappearance of his wife Kausar Bi in 2005,on Saturday visited the farmhouse of suspended DIG D G Vanzara in the case in Illol village in Himmatnagar taluka,police sources said. The farmhouse,about 18 km from Himmatnagar town,belongs to Vanzara,who is one of the prime accused in the case along with two IPS officers Rajkumar Pandiyan and Dinesh M N. In all,14 people are in prison in the case. Sources said a team headed by CBI DIG P Kandaswamy along with investigating officer Amitabh Thakur visited Vanzaras farmhouse. It has been alleged that Sohrabuddins wife Kausar Bis body was disposed off by some of the accused there. However,earlier investigation by the Gujarat Police did not find anything from the farmhouse. The CBI had registered a case on Monday against Gujarat and Rajasthan Police officials and others under various sections of the IPC,including criminal conspiracy,murder and kidnapping. The CBI took up the case on the direction of the Supreme Court,which came down heavily on the Gujarat Police for failing to conduct impartial investigations and attempting to mislead the apex court by filing conflicting action taken reports (ATRs).

SBI donates three-wheeler to charitable trust
AHMEDABAD: The State Bank of India (SBI) has donated a three-wheeler van to the city-based Adhar Charitable Trust,an organisation which works for people with HIV/AIDS as part of its corporate social responsibility (SCR). Adhar is supported by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation,AIDS Control Society and SARAL (NGO) of Raman Group. Since Adhars inception in 2005,the SBI has been supporting this trust,which has more than 1,300 members.
The donation of van will help us generate income by selling our handmade food products under the brand name Adhar. These food products are prepared by trained women members in hygienic conditions, the release said.

Scam at Surat civic body ward,says BJP leader
SURAT: The ruling party leader at the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has claimed to have unearthed an attendance scam involving lower level staff in the Adajan zone office. A vigilance inquiry has been set up after that. Acting on specific information,BJP leader Bhimji Patel visited Adajan zone office on Friday morning. He was accompanied by Adajan ward secretary Ghanshyam Nakrani. According to Patel,when they entered the office,they found Sanitary Inspector B V Choudhary,private contractor Manhar Boricha and Sub-Sanitary Inspector Bharat Solanki trying to hide sheets of paper on which they were scribbling something. When those were checked,names of some people with amounts next to them were found written. Upon inquiry,none of the three could give satisfactory answers. Patel took the list and handed it to the municipal commissioner. I have unearthed a similar scam at the Varachha zone office as well. But at Adajan,I found some ghost names in the list, Patel said.

Jamnagar palace theft: Man immolates self
RAJKOT: A man,who had set himself ablaze after being called in for questioning in connection with a theft at the Jam Bungalow Palace in Jamnagar,succumbed to burn injuries at G G Hospital on Saturday. A division police station said 35-year-old Devish Godhadiya,a resident of Kuila Hanuarea,who was called in for interrogation on February 1,had suffered 70 per cent burn injuries after he doused himself with kerosene outside Road Transport Office on February 3 and set himself ablaze. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday,the police said. The deceased worked at a tea stall in Jamnagar and is survived by a wife and four children.
The police said Godhadiya was called in for interrogation after the previously arrested accused hinted at his involvement. He was also an accused in a few theft cases reported from factories in Jamnagar.
Meanwhile,the police on Saturday arrested the main accused,Vijay Bevashi,along with three other women,in connection with the multi-crore royal theft. From them,the police have recovered cash of Rs 1.10 lakh and at least 10 priceless antique pieces.
