A hoax phone call to the city police control room on Sunday,that a bomb has been planted in Ravivari Bazaar (Sunday market) area in the city,forced the police personnel to undertake a search operation.
The control room received the message from an unknown caller stating that the Ravivari market will explode in a few minutes time. We have hidden a bomb over there.
A bomb disposal squad,dog squad and Gaekwad Haveli police station officers reached the market and carried out a comprehensive search operation. However,they didnt find any explosive or suspicious material on the spot.
Inspector R D Rathva said,The caller said he has information that a bomb in the market. However,hunt is on to nab the hoax caller.
A couple of days ago,a bomb had exploded at Nana Chiloda on outskirts of Ahmedabad when a construction labourer had reportedly stepped on to a country-made bomb.
Earlier,the city police control room had received similar hoax call stating that a bomb has been hidden in V S Hospital that may explode. The threat had led to lot of chaos in the hospital,however,the caller was traced and arrested by the crime branch. The caller had turned out to be a mentally unstable teenage boy from Naroda.
The Gaekwad Haveli police station has registered a case of bomb hoax call and begun further investigations.
