Those who lost their lives in the incident included 65-year-old Devki Shankar Suyani and her daughter Jashoda (35), as well as Dinesh Premji Jungi (34), who was driving past the house at the time it collapsed, leading to the victim being buried under it.

The collapse took place at about 1:30 am on October 6, and firefighters as well as police and neighbours rushed out to see a vertical half of the three-storeyed house had turned to rubble.

Inspector H R Goswami of Veraval police station said that two persons had been rescued from the part of the house still standing. These included Shankar Suyani and another woman relative. They were admitted to a local hospital and are currently under treatment.
